Gustavo the Shy Ghost by Flavia Z. Drago
This is the perfect book for an SEL lesson on making friends, being a class family, and “seeing” others for who they are. You can use it as a mentor text for characterization and dialogue, too!
Dia de los Muertos by Roseanne Greenfield Thong
I love the poetic rhythm of this story and the way the pages beautifully unfold the events of this celebration! You can easily use this book to teach visual thinking strategies and context clues vocabulary.
