🖤I know the struggle with finding activities that aren’t too “babyish” for your upper elementary striving readers! This was at the forefront when designing this course. All activities were created with the maturity level of upper elementary students in mind. Your students will love learning!

⚽️ The Floating Field: How a Group of Thai Boys Built their own Soccer Field is a text you are going to want to grab right away!! On the island of Koh Panyee, in a village built on stilts, there is no open space. The boys can play only twice a month on a sandbar when the tide is low enough. Everything changes when the teens join together to build their very own floating soccer field. This true story is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a good book and cover many ELA standards, as well as cross-curricular lessons! My teaching thoughts:
✅Exposure to culture and everyday way of life
✅Summarizing + sequencing, specifically with a story that follows a process
✅Problem + Solution with text evidence
✅Science Integration with moon phases, tides, ocean life, and an opportunity for a really cool STEAM project
✅Strong academic vocabulary!
