Yes, I am one lucky gal! Batman visited me at school today, AKA Hayden.
For those of you that haven’t been following for a while, my parents (who are angels) took in a 1 year old and a 3 year old in January of last year. A family member lost custody, and they quickly became the foster parents for what was supposed to be a temporary situation, but here we are 14 months later. Needless to say, we are attached to the now 2 and 4 year old.
Hayden is my heart; I seriously can’t get enough of this adorable, happy, and friendly little boy! He was sick from school today and all he told my dad he wanted to do was “visit Aimey!” (Nickname my parents called me as a kid instead of Amelia.) When I got a text from my dad asking if it was okay, OF COURSE!!! Two of my favorite boys 🙂
So during my lunch, in came Hayden, in his Batman costume top, batman hat backwards, and batman sunglasses. Seriously.. he’s the best! (Funny sidenote, he started carrying around a Cinderella doll lately and my parents just couldn’t understand it because he had always been in to super heroes, then he told them it was “Aimey” so I soon became Cinderella to him! haha!)
It certainly has made my first day back from break, that much better!!
I also wanted to link up with the amazing Holly at Fourth Grade Flipper for her “Tried it Tuesday”!

During Daily 5, my “buddy reading” is “reading with Mrs. Cap.” We do literature circles during this time in leveled groups. Since we are between books and preparing for the OAAs, we took turns reading cards aloud. Then, as a group we made inferences, and the person with the card had to find specific evidence in the passage to support our group inference. It worked great!

I love review games…we try to frame the strategies as game show lifelines, and go through the questions like a game show, asking which lifelines they could use to get the best answer…Good Luck prepping!

The story about the Cinderella doll is absolutely HEARTWARMING. So cute! My favorite state test to prepare for is science. I love to have students answer science questions using a response system on the SMART board and then to discuss and debate the answers. My kids get to be such strong science testers so quickly.
Polka Dots & Teaching Tots
My new favorite activity to review is scoot! Today we played a cause & effect mixed with theme task cards scoot for some quick review:) The students think it is "fun". Amazing!! I have those inference task cards but I have to say that I am SO impressed with how neatly you cut them out. I take the short-cut route and cut rectangles without rounding the edges:) haha! Thank you so much for linking up!

Awwww, they story about Hayden just melted my heart! How sweet!!! That is so precious that you are Cinderella to him. Bless their little hearts!! I love kids!!
I have not tried any task cards from Rachel Lynette (I know, I know) but I'm starting to think it would be a great way to review. I like what Holly said above me and to use them in scoot!!
Have a great rest of your week!
