I love linkin’ up with Holly’s so fun linky, Tried it Tuesday! π I’m going to share two quick “Tried It’s” with y’all before I have to head off to some sand volleyball!
My first Tried It is one I shared early on in my bloggy months, but many of you weren’t following me then, so I want to share it again now π
Yes, this is a SILLY picture, but showing off my princess crown! π This has become a STAPLE in my classroom this year. I love my 1 on 1 time with students, and it is definitely needed! I know many of you are in the same boat as me and have to keep track of LOTS of data. This data takes time, and needs to be uninterrupted. How do you get 27 9 and 10 year olds to leave you alone for 10 minutes?
The princess crown! From the beginning of the year we established the rules of the princess crown in our classroom. When I am wearing the crown, students are not allowed to interrupt me for any questions. My kiddos joke “unless your bleeding or dying, leave the princess alone!!” During this time if students ask questions, they ask the “VIP” of the day in our classroom. The use their problem solving skills to figure out what they need to!
It’s a simple thing, but it works wonders! Thank you Target $1 section π
My second Tried It is INSTAGRAM!
I am totally loving having a classroom instagram. I’ve always had a private one, but I love sharing things in this social media for my classroom. I actually let my students follow the classroom one too, so they can see pictures I post of their activities throughout the day! Plus, it’s another fun way to interact with you amazing bloggy friends! π
So follow me– @wildthingslearn
Off to play some sand volleyball…. have a great night everyone π
The crown is a really cute idea! I will have to remember that when I'm teaching 2/3 next year! π

I use the same phrase when I conference…only if you are bleeding or dying. I have to get a crown for next year.

That is TOO cute! I love it. A lot. I am stealing it. End of story. π
I have just joined the instagramming craze too – and can feel myself getting sucked in… π

I love the crown! What a great idea. It is so hard to get students to not just come to you with questions. I may just have to steal that idea for next year, not sure if I can pull off a crown though!
Love the idea! My phrase is unless you are bleeding or on fire…and this far into the school year my kids can usually say it before I do. We get some strange looks if there is a visitor in the room, but they love it!

The princess crown is adorable! The first thought that came to my mind is the two students I have that I know would love to test the concept. Haha!! Gotta love the ones that need your attention at least 20x a day:) I have a feeling that it would be very "uncool" to break the rules though and they would learn quickly!
I have never tried Instagram. That is another item on my summer "try list". Ahhh…so much to do!
Thanks for linking up BBB!

Cute! Can you share the pics with us?
Thank you! It would work great with that age π
haha it's the best way to keep those kiddos that ALWAYS need attention working independently!
HAHA! My students honestly call me "Princess or Queen Cap" when I'm wearing it.. it's hilarious! I hope you do steal it, it works great π I love instagram! SO GLAD you joined!
It is SO hard to do, but the crown really does work great!! You can definitely pull off the crown girl π
haha those phrases work great, don't they!? I'm sure outsiders laugh at us for sure!
It certainly keeps their attention π Thanks!
Of course! Glad you liked it π I hope you try it!
Haha I definitely had those kiddos that tested the concept in the beginning of the year! After me telling them to stop so many times, AND my bossy little kiddos telling them to stop, it starts to work! You definitely should try Instagram π It's fun!
The Instagram pics? That's a good idea! I'm sure I could share them on my blog, too π
