Teaching story elements can get old after a while, and can be hard to find creative ways to do it. I shared a little video on my Instagram yesterday of one of my favorite ways to do this–through Disney Pixar Shorts! 🙂
We have been talking about story elements for the first few weeks of school, and I wanted to give my students a summative assessment on this. Before doing this, I wanted a quick and fun review.
I showed my students this Pixar short!
The first time through I pause the video every so often and we discuss the elements of a story we are seeing. The second time through we just watch it. After watching it a second time, the students complete the graphic organizer. I have students pair-share their answers or share out to the class.
They absolutely loved it and have literally begged me to do it again all day today! I will be throwing another one in for quick review in a few weeks and throughout the year. 🙂
I made this into a quick freebie you can pick up in my TPT store by clicking here or on the picture below. Let me know how it works for you! 🙂
I love the Pixar shorts! Thanks for the great ideas and freebie!
We've been doing plot all week in 5th grade, and we used a few Pixar shorts as well. I love your graphic organizer. Thank you for sharing!!
