I knew my favorite, but I couldn’t wait to hear theirs. The votes are in! Here’s the final count:
Tuck Everlasting: 8 votes
James and the Giant Peach: 7 votes
Mr. Popper’s Penguins: 1 vote
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe: 39 votes!!!!
Yup, that’s right. They picked my favorite, too!!! (It’s probably because we just started it and you know how 4th graders live in the moment, but hey, I’ll take it!!)
If you haven’t read this book, even if you don’t teach it, I HIGHLY suggest you read it! It is a wonderful book and the entire series is breathtaking! π
I have taught this book in guided reading groups and whole class. This year, we are doing it whole class to wrap up the year. The kids are ecstatic.
I kick off the book by showing them the preview to the movie; they get SO excited!
We use my Narnia Lapbook (we call it the “Fantastic Folder”). It is my absolutely favorite thing to teach because it is SO interactive, and covers so many skills. The kiddos LOVE carrying their folder with their copy of the book around in their gallon sized bag, and they are so proud of the finished product.
The pictures on the cover of this don’t even do it justice. I wish I had copies of my last years kiddos to take a picture and show you, but I can never get students to let me keep them for samples because they all want to keep their own! When everything is colored and filled in, and I let them decorate all of the open spaces, they look ah-mazing! You can click here to pick up this product up at my TPT store. It is a download and teach type of product. There is instructions for each piece and part, and an order of activities for when to teach as you read the book. There are also teacher keys (in case you haven’t read the book!)
Jivey is trying this out with her kiddos right now and I LOVE hearing how it is going!
What makes me love this book above all others? The way my students get into it! C.S. Lewis really knew what he was doing when he wrote these magical stories filled with adventure, sadness, wonder, happiness, and love. The symbolism, imagery, and figurative language in this book is out of this world!
Before I leave, don’t forget to enter my giveaway that ends Friday!!! (Click on the picture below to enter!) AND also in celebration of 200 folloers, I will be doing 3 flash freebies for the last 3 days (who knows, the Fantastic Folder might be one) follow me on FACEBOOK to see each freebie when I post them and download them in time! π
And a quick thank you for all of the nice comments and prayers yesterday; the infection has now turned into a kidney infection but I can’t take off time to go to the doctor because of testing. I am rushing to the quick clinic during planning to hopefully get some relief! π Thanks for your love!
I can't wait to post next week how it's going, and then the next week when we finish!! The kiddos are loving it so far!! :o) Thanks for linking up!

That is a great series of books. Your lapbook looks fantastic – no wonder the kids are so engaged!
Those are all great books but looks like you have a clear winner! I remember reading this book in grade school….I should pull it out again to see what I am missing.
