We’ve made it through Monday— Wooohoo! π Now to share some extra motivation to get you through the rest of your week…
(Don’t you just LOVE her blog name and all the sparkles?! I’m obsessed!)
My motivation tip for the classroom this week is pretty simple. Unfortunately, I don’t have pictures. Hopefully I will remember to update with pictures when I take them!! We have a talkative group of 4th graders this year and were struggling with them being quiet in the beginning of the year in other classes (specials, assemblies, recess, lunch room etc.) We decided to do a whole 4th grade incentive. We created a “Compliments Jar.” It is really quite simple.
I took a mason jar and wrapped a ribbon around it and put a “Compliments” sign on it. We use little warm and fuzzies to fill it. Each time our students get a compliment for behavior from another teacher, principal, or ourselves, a fuzzy goes in. When the jar is full, we have a 4th grade movie day! It’s as simple as that π The students love it and it works! We have gotten so many compliments (go figure!) from other teachers on their behavior since then, and we’ve been doing it for 4 months now.
I also wanted to link up again with one of my favorite linkys.. Monday Made it to share a few things I made lately that I hope you can use in your classroom!
My first made-it I blogged about yesterday a little, but just wanted to reshare because it’s perfect for this time of year. With Earth Day, and spring time, we find ourselves really appreciating the outdoors! So I read “The Lorax” with my kiddos and our kindergarten buddies and we do this little crafitivty and writing piece. We also watch the movie and do a comparison! I love this too because you can really do it any time of year! Such a great book AND movie with a powerful message.

We are also in full test prep mode so I made this little pack of ELA Common Core Test Prep Review
{Click here to download} (HINT: There are currently 36 task cards, but I will be adding more. As I add, the price will go up! Download now so you can pay the lower price, and just download updates)
I also made these little glasses for the bridesmaids at my good friends bachelorette party this weekend!
And of course I have to share with you my newest nail creation! Love them π My nail artiest is a beaut!

I use a similar system to what you're describing – my kiddos LOVE it! It's a good motivator for the whole class to work together to earn an incentive.
Congratulations on a big milestone!
I would LOVE to help out with a giveaway! π
